DR. RICK LYONS

Dr. Rick Lyons knew he wanted to work with animals while growing up in a house with cats, birds, rabbits, lizards, and (much later) dogs. Dr. Lyons studied animal science and poultry science at NC State University before attending the University of Pennsylvania for veterinary school. He then moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he started a 1-year internship in medicine and surgery at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group. The internship program not only provided Dr. Lyons with plenty of experience, but it is also where he met Dr. Evin. He then spent six years working in general practice in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, before beginning preparations for Lyons Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Lyons has since worked relief in Manhattan and various parts of New Jersey while LVH was under development and construction.

Dr. Lyons loves spending time with his family, especially his son Nathaniel and pets: Pringles the Dachshund, and medium hair calico cat, Lira. (These furry friends are actually the inspirations for the LVH logo!) When he’s not working, Dr. Lyons enjoys seeing live music, brewing beer, cooking, baking, and (trying) to stay in shape. You can also spot him at NY Giants games… until the cold weather combined with the sting of defeat makes it too hard to venture out.
